BIO Auteur compositeur, guitariste chanteur Christophe Marquilly est né à Lille en 1955. Au début des années 80, il fonde les Stocks un trio influencé par ZZ top qui enregistrent un album live à Lille en 1982 sur lequel on remarque une version française de « Cocaïne » . En 1984, Stocks avec une nouvelle section rythmique sort son premier album studio « Eclats de rock » produit par Benoît Blue Boy chez CBS. On y trouve d’excellentes compositions blues rock à la française comme « Flah back », « La nuit est tombée". L’accrocheur « Elle me voit » » dont la clip passe sur MTV couplé au boogie « C’est bel et bien fini » sort en 45 tours et maxi. Sue la lancée les ch’timis effectuent même une deux tournées aux USA . En 1986, Stocks enregistrent un 45 tours « Tellement seul » produit à Londres par Nono le guitariste de Trust. Le 16 mai 1986, les Stocks se produisent en première partie de Rory Gallagher à Lille. Mais ce superbe groupe de scène a du mal à trouver ses marques et Christophe dissout le groupe On retrouve Christophe Marquilly dix ans plus tard sous le nom de Marquy pour un album en solo autoproduit « C’est pas facile » qui reste dans l’esprit de Stocks. En 1997, il reforme Stocks et le groupe ouvre pour Trust au Zénith de Lille. En 2003, sort un nouvel album de Stocks entre rock et blues « Trois, 3, troisième » et malgré une première partie de la tournée des stades de Johnny Hallyday le groupe se sépare dans la foulée. Puis avec la bassiste Luc Dewerte et le batteur Marc Védrine, il monte Outsliders groupe de reprise de classiques du rock et du blues. En 2007 Christophe retourne en studio pour un album solo plus acoustique et plus intimiste : « Rien n’est joué ».

Enregistré en septembre 2007 à Tourcoing et finalement publié par Bernett records en février 2009 « Rien n’est joué » laisse la porte ouverte aux rêve et aux défis pour ce chanteur attachant qui tourne ainsi la page Stocks et repart sur des nouvelles bases. On y trouve sur ce CD 14 compositions en français, des textes bien ciselés d’un musicien contemporain parfois un peu désabusé qui se livre ; « Villes en sursis » aborde sans démagogie le thème de l’écologie et « Vents de haine » avec son superbe solo de guitare le terrorisme. Le très beau « Rêve d’Irlande » avec sa touche celtique évoque en arrière plan son amitié avec Rory Gallagher qu’il avait rencontré alors qu’il faisait sa première partie. On retrouve des thèmes traditionnels comme l’amour « Pour que tu reviennes », « Message », « Ne me retiens pas » avec toujours d’excellents riffs bluesy joué par ce maître de la gratte. A coté de l’électrique « Je refuse » où Christophe exprime ses états d'âmes on trouve aussi quelques ballades épurées ; « A l’Ouest » « Elle et lui » « Je sais bien » Un grand album qui mériterait un peu plus d’attention !
